Business or pleasure? Whether you're vacationing, studying abroad, or even living out of the country, travel insurance can protect you in the event of things like, sudden illness, accidents, or even emergency medical evacuation. Having a good travel insurance plan means quality care and 24/7 assistance, as well as pre-approved hospitals and physicians with the appropriate skills needed to help you, including language and translation for key medical terms and brand-name drugs. Just as importantly, travel insurance coverage can even reimburse you for expenses you've already paid in case you need to cancel your trip.

At Polk Insurance, we've been providing San Luis Obispo County with first-class travel insurance services since 1988. We've help thousands of vacationers (or students, or expats) just like you find the insurance coverage they need at a price they can afford while they're outside of the U.S.

Travel insurance gives you peace of mind while you're abroad.

U.S. healthcare & overseas challenges

The excitement of living or traveling abroad needs to be balanced with the reality of health care requirements. Because of how the U.S. health care system works, U.S. citizens and residents traveling for extended periods or living permanently abroad face unique challenges. For example, if you are of Medicare-qualifying age, you are expected to keep Part B of Medicare and Part D of drug coverage, or face penalties for late enrollees. Or, if you are not yet eligible for Medicare, the Affordable Care Act (aka "Obamacare") may require you to maintain minimum essential coverage or pay income penalties for not complying.

These are just a few of the many insurance-related challenges travelers and expatriates might face. To learn more about the different types of travel insurance solutions we can provide, keep reading.
